The killing fields. This is where the Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge emprisoned, tortured, and executed over 1.7 million women, children, men, intellectuals, foreigners, officials, and anyone he doubted. This mass loss of life occured in a mere 5 years (1975-1979). Locals have told me that during his rule the capital city was a ghost town, a town which usually has a population of over a million people.
