Angkor Wat spans about 13 sq Km, was built in the early 12th century and took only 37 to build this astonishing complex and work of art. Built by the king Suryavarman II, he dedicated this temple to the hindu god Vishnu. It's design was to represent Mount Meru as this is believed to be the home of Hindu Devas (gods) . Not only is it mind blowing that this was built by hand in merely 37 years but the workers had to dig out a HUGE moat and use the dirt as foundation prior to building. I can only imagine the man power the king had at his disposal.
Sunrise.... Life is beautiful.
They spend millions of dollars on restoration of Angkor Wat but can't afford to buy a damn lawn mower for these poor folks? Cutting the grass with machetes is beyond ridiculous.

All of these pillars and walls have inscriptions on them. The amount of work it must have been is mind blowing.
